DISCLAIMER: Though the day has passed, still it is something I wanted to share for literature is always cherished every time and anytime.
Art is as diverse as the human nature. It is like a wide sky with many scenes. Like a deep ocean with never ending depth. From literature to paintings, from sketching to carving, from graphics to designing; there are many shades of the single color ’Art’. Indeed, one of the most vivid and glossy one is ’Literature’.
Literature itself contains a plethora of forms and aspects. It is one of the most creative and distinct shade of the colour art. It keeps the subtleness of poetic verses with the smoothness of prose. On one hand the sharpness of stories blended in tranquility of tales give it an eloquent touch, so on the other hand a combo of narrative pieces churned-up with lyrical notes present another picture. It keep eye catchers for every one, of any age with any taste. In order to revive every tone of literature with zeal and honour all those authors, who strive alot to create some master pieces for our read and say, ‘International Authors Day’ is celebrated on Novemeber 1st around the globe.
The actual purpose of this very day is to celebrate and live literature in all its forms. To accolade all the writers, authors and creative thoughts with due respect and consideration. To cherish every taste of the literary cake, relish the delight of reading and bask in the charm of writing. Many amazing events are arranged around the globe for enjoying literature to bits. They include seminars about the literary work of great people, acknowledging conferences, walks and meetings. People pay tribute to their favourite authors through different means. Events are arranged for showing appreciation for the incredibly hard work put in by the authors behind our many favourite writings.
Peeping in history it is seen that this observance was adopted by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs in 1929 and in 1949 was given a place on the list of special days, weeks and months prepared by the US Department of Commerce. The resolution states in part: “By celebrating an Authors’ Day as a nation, we would not only show patriotism, loyalty, and appreciation of the men and women who have made American literature possible, but would also encourage and inspire others to give of themselves in making a better America.” It was also resolved “that we commemorate an Authors’ Day to be observed on November First each year.”
Surely, it is a day when the ‘lovers of words and pens’ show their consideration for all the great minds behind many brilliant compilations. People usually make banners and boards with appreciation notes for their favourites. Online events are arranged where many record their acknowledging words and motivational messages.
In short, it is a day of the celebration of words.
